In my doodle rendition, I wanted to encapsulate that same energy and took a raw and expressive approach. The lines are deliberately bold and less circular, to emphasise the purity and contrast that characterise Maassen's personality. This particular doodle has a special place in my heart and remains one of my favourites.
Interestingly, my move into doodling was initially a personal exercise to enhance my ability to handle light and shadow in portraits. But now I make weekly portraits and even commissions. While textiles remain the core of my work, this journey into doodles has proved to be a delightful and enriching side path.
