Strings Attached <\/em>is about that connection. Between the visible and the invisible, between contrast and harmony and between what we hold on to and what we let go of.\u00a0<\/p>

This series asks you to dwell on these subtle connections. The work is not only about what you see but also about what you experience. What you feel. Like energy. You don't see it but you feel it.\u00a0<\/p>

Thread is special to me for many reasons but mainly because of its organic crunch and its versatility. Thread certainly has limitations but also so many possibilities. With one thread you can tuft, crochet, knit, embroider, knot, you name it. Each time the same material but a completely different outcome.<\/p>

In my quest to combine different techniques, I became fascinated by the pinned thread.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

It plays with your expectations: after all, it appears heavy and full but is hollow and light. Coarse and at the same time so refined with its fragile texture.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

It is this tension between expectation and reality, between visible and invisible, that defines the energy.<\/p>

Strings Attached <\/em>is a series of four works. The first two works are now available.\u00a0<\/p>

From a distance, the work looks like a painting.
Once closer, you see the yarn. Almost feel the softness already.\u00a0<\/p>

You see the graphic, clean shapes but the pinned threads come at you. The knots, the chaos, the depth. It's all there but you have to get closer to actually see and feel it.\u00a0<\/p>

An invisible thread. That you pull on without realising it.<\/p>
