Salvador Dalí fascinates me. Not just because of his surrealist spirit, but because of his iconic presence. His moustache and his eyes (always together, always exaggerated, always full of character) grab the lead role.
For this series, I translated four of his most iconic photographs into textile portraits. Graphic, bold, powerful, fully tufted; each work in a different format, but all full of colour and energy.

When I was still working as a teacher, I taught my students: let go of your perfectionism, because it only puts you in a tight spot. Yet, as an artist, I had to remind myself of this again and again. Especially when it comes to the material I work with. Organic... always in motion and therefore never completely under control.
Perfect does not exist. But I also learnt that it is precisely in letting go that space is created for something real.
I learned to feel when something is right. To trust the process, the material and the energy that emerges.
