Not everything you see is what it seems.

Her lips are sexy. A little sultry (I think that's a wonderful word), even seductive. But are they?

Her gaze holds yours just long enough to touch something inside you. You may wonder: what would she think? What would she feel?

This is the second work in my series ‘Beneath the Surface’. The first work is somewhat smaller. More intimate. This work is grand. More present.

It started with a shape. Simple. Oval. A mouth. An eye. A kind of frame. Or is it perhaps a mirror?

I draw with thread and paint with yarn.
From a distance: abstract, graphic, very sleek.
Up close: softness, depth, so many details and those tangible guy ropes that you just have to touch.

I work with contrast. Precision and intuition. Control and chaos. Just like I am myself.
Explosive. But never random. Every colour, every line and every texture has a function.
My ADHD brain thrives on that tension. That's how I see, how I work and how I build my world in layers of colour and thread.

It's not about what you see right away.
It's about what lingers beneath the surface.
