At Chilling Eighties is all about contrast and energy. Black cuts through the composition, sharp and present. It emphasises the lines and keeps the colours in check. And it is precisely in that play that tension is created: bright versus dark, bright versus subdued.

My inspiration for this work comes from the 1980s, a time when colour and boldness reigned supreme. Where hard graphic shapes and vibrant hues predominated that took on a new softness in textiles. A less harsh visible energy that also becomes tangible.

Chilling Eighties takes you back to an era when playing with colour was natural. It brings that same playful energy to the space: cheerful, lively and uninhibited.
