At Veiled the face plays hide-and-seek behind colour and shape. Lines intersect, surfaces collide and expose tension. Shades of blue fill one corner, pink another, ochre and green seek their own territory. No flowing curves, but straight lines that touch, overlap and coincide right in the middle. Where eye and mouth become visible.

As in each work in the series, a section is embroidered in a round, elongated shape. At Veiled lies that horizontally near the mouth, giving more emphasis to the lips: the place where words and desires lurk as well as silence. Finely embroidered, carefully layered. Around it, the tufted surface unfolds: expressive, colourful and unmistakably present.

"What do you show and what do you keep hidden?" That is the question this work asks you.
The gaze reveals something, but not everything. The mouth speaks, but holds something back.

Veiled brings presence to a space without being loud. It is colour that energises, the look that lingers and the seen and unseen tension between conceal and reveal.
