Her presence is immediately felt. Her eyes look directly at you; sharp and powerful, with a gaze that is almost tangible. Distance seems to disappear and her intense gaze automatically draws you to her.
Her hair consists of small, hand-knotted, pinned threads. A structure that detaches from the surface creating a layering. A play of small connections that are not immediately visible but palpably present.
For me, the choice of framing is never accidental. In other work, I often use colour to make it play an active role, as an extension of the image. Within the series Strings Attached I consciously choose tranquillity. A light, blank wooden frame that adds nothing but leaves space. This keeps the focus entirely on the energy of the work and the balance is right.
