Every quest is about wonder.
The first step of an ongoing investigation into how I can continue to draw and paint with wire, without losing control of line, direction and form.
A search for a visual language in which different ways of working with wire are allowed to meet and reinforce each other.
The structure of the canvas gives direction. From afar, the lines flow into each other, where close by a pixel-like drawing emerges.
fine but intense
Colour explosions without being overpowering. Colours that blend and contrast at the right moments.
The works move between structure and softness, between detail and distance. What appears to consist of small units up close, forms into calm, almost hushed images where colour and movement coincide at a greater distance.
stratification
This series consists of four small compositions and one large work, Wonderings XL.
The series of smaller works was previously exclusive to art gallery Unit4Art on view. Three works are still available.
All works are professionally framed: all have the same size, a dark grey wooden frame with a subtle curve and an off-white passe-partout. The depth of the frame makes the works appear slightly further inward, which enhances the layering and tranquillity of the work.
